Facebow to Denar Anamark Plus

In order to accomplish a work of art, I MUST have a well taken facebow. This equipment plays such a big role to the case, but not many of the clinicians realize such an importance of the facebow and preparing the facebow accurately. Among the cases that come into our laboratory, 9 out of 10 cases come with a facebow. Believe it or not, 7 out of those 9 facebows are USELESS.

The accurately taken facebow MUST allow you to place the maxillary arch where it is supposed to be in the articulator (center of the articulator where the plates position). Failing to do so will result in incorrect angle of the smile line, tilted alignment of all the teeth, the canine guidance won’t be fabricated in correct function and most importantly it will LOOK terrible in patients‘ mouth.

Above is the picture of Bad facebow and a Good facebow. Careless mistakes that I often see is the facebow transfered without the numbers appearing on the facial view (fig. 1 & 2). Other common mistakes are mispositioning (fig. 3 & 4). Also be very aware of tightening all the bolts of the facebow before shipping to avoid the facebow being collapsed and mispositioned.

It may not seem to be a perfect combination, but it worked out well in the mouth.
The translucency of the inlay defines the color of the die and appears
to be darker than the crown. The crown has a broad white spots on the
incisals to mimic the adjacent teeth. Both inlay and the crown ended up
disappearing in the mouth.

Case Sold (1)

The patient was a 63 year old lady. The reason of her visit was to replace a 3 unit posterior bridge on the upper. The doctor convinced her to get 20 veneers for the aesthetic results. Surprisingly, she agreed.

When the case was 90%done, the patient changed her mind and now only wants to do 3 unit bridge that she originally had to replace. I was 50% relieved and 50% angry. The doctor came in and apologized. Told me that he will pay for the whole 20 units but I was not satisfied at all. So I convince the doctor to take the wax up and present it to the patient, for that 2% possibility for her to change her mind.

Minutes later the doctor came back to my bench with a smile. Ever since then every patient that he schedules, I do the wax ups first.

Miss North Carolina

Amazingly, she became the Miss North Carolina with her previous teeth on the left. She did get her 20 units done before the final competition in Las Vegas, but unfortunately couldn't get the crown.
